Dave was a customer service representative for a manufacturing company who was hoping to move into sales. He was stuck at a desk most of the day resolving customer's problems. He did everything possible to get the attention of the salesmen and their manager so he dressed sharp, dark suit, tasteful tie, polished shoes and he tried to impress the customers with the service he provided, hoping that the word would get back to management. So far, he was just one of the pack, maybe one of the better looking guys in the pack with his dark wavy hair, cornflower blue eyes and chiseled jawbones, but he continued to hope that his chance was coming.
As he plugged through each boring day, it was hard for him to remain positive and confident that he would get noticed and offered the sales training job he wanted. Still he worked hard, sucked up and looked sharp during the days and kept himself in good shape with heavy gym workouts and running during his evenings and weekends. He was careful about his eating, balancing his proteins and carbs and avoiding fats to keep his 6 foot 2 inch body at a trim, muscular 185 pounds. His 42 long suits needed tailoring to fit his 32 inch waist but showed off his broad shoulders and lean midsection. He didn't have time for a girl friend, at least no until he got his promotion. He only had time to focus on making sure that he would be the obvious choice for the nest sales training position.
Still, it was harder and harder to keep motivated and hopeful.
Then, one night after a particularly heavy workout while he was eating his tasteless chicken breast and dry baked potato, the phone rang.
"Hello," he said.
"Dave?" said the voice on the other end of the call. "I hope I am not interrupting anythig."
