Joe rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and sat up in bed, stretching his arms over his head. The summer sun peaked through his blinds, slightly illuminating his otherwise dark room. He was glad he had decided to take this solo trip to the beach; it was nice to wake up naturally, rather than by jumped on by his youngest brother. Not to say that he didn't miss his family-even so, sometimes you just need a break, you know?
He pushed the covers to one side of the bed and placed his feet on the hardwood floor, yawning and scratching his head. He walked to the window and pushed it open, the warm air took him off guard and he took a step back. The beach looked amazing, the waves were just right for surfing and the sand couldn't have looked more inviting. Today was going to be a great day! There was a sand castle competition on the beach today and Joe was really looking forward to participating. He had recently cut his hair (quite drastically-it resembled his style when he first started out with brothers) and so he didn't expect too many people to recognize him, especially without his brothers around. He just wanted to be able to have fun without crowds of people surrounding him. However, he also really wanted to try his hand at surfing. He needed to decide which to do first...
He grabbed a towel, his bag, pulled a shirt over his head and slipped his feet into his flip-flops and ran out the back door onto the smooth sand.
