"Could I have everyone's attention please?" Dr. Elizabeth Weir walked up the ramp that led to the stargate and addressed the expedition members
"Alright, here we go. We are about to try to make a connection. We haven't been able to predict exactly how much this is gonna take and we may only get the one chance to do this, so if we are able to achieve a stable wormhole, we will just have to risk it. We'll send in the robot probe to check for viability and go." The expedition members, a mix of military and scientists listened attently to the instructions of an experiment that could be a game changer for humanity.
"Every one of you volunteered for this mission and you represent over a dozen countries. You are the world's best and bravest in light of the unknown we're about to embark on. I hope we all return one day having discovered a whole new frontier for humanity, but we may never be able to return home. This is your last chance to withdraw your participation if you so wish." The doctor smiled at seeing the silent agreement from everyone in the expedition team.
"Alright, begin dialling"
The technician in the control room carefully starts dialing the chevron as everyone watches with different expressions, from awe and excitement seeing the stargate actually work to fear and uncertainty that the wormhole might lead. Once the eight codes are dialled the stargate activated with a display of visible energy until swirling blue with a water hole appearance.
"Send the robot"
"We have telemetry"
"Sensors say there's oxygen, no toxins, an atmosphere that can support life" a technician confirmed without being able to hide his surprise.
"Looks like it's time" Dr Weir muttered to her colleague, Dr McKay, as they smiled at each other seeing their work for years finally leading to something promising.

"Alright, we're ready to go" Elizabeth said leading the group and walking first through the wormhole. She walked with fear but also with conviction in her work and in what she could find on the other side of the gate, ancient technology that she could learn from and harness to improve humanity.
"Wait, what's that" a technician said looking at the screen in front of him
"What do you mean?"
"I'm getting a weird unstable reading" he confirmed with another technician. General O'Neill on the control room looked with concern at the strange reading but he reacted too late
"Dr Weir!" he shouted, but she already entered into the wormhole that for an instant changed color before returning to it's blue water like appearance.
"Everything ok general?" The colonel in charge of the expedition asked before sending the rest of the team
"We're not sure, but things look ok now. Please confirm the doctor is ok" O'Neill said and the colonel nodded before sending everyone through the wormhole
