Chapter #4

Zoey finds something interesting in the bag.

Zoey pulled out a draft chapter to my novel. I started to take it away from her, but she put out her hand and stopped me from ripping it from her hands. Once she finished it, she looked at me with sparkles in her eyes.

"This is great!" She said. "You're going to make an awesome writer. Let's get started." She winked and me and started out the door. I followed and got into her car.

"First, you must remember that no matter what anybody says, you are a good writer. Second, I'm going to push you until you are wishing me dead. Third, once you get published, you'll thank me. You know you will." Zoey winked at me again, put the car in drive and drove to her office.

"Well, I'm just going to thank you right now. Thank you for taking me on." I whispered. I started at the draft of the chapter and wondered if she really meant it. Was I that good to awe her? Did I have the talent, the patience to actually accomplish my writing dream?

I started mentally writing to the draft. Lisa stood at the top of the stairs, listening to the sounds coming from the darkness downstairs. Her heart was pounding in her ears. Should I go down there and see what is happening? She thought.

Something broke downstairs and she squeaked. She clamped her hands over her mouth and started to turn towards her bedroom. Lock the door as soon as you get in there! She screamed at herself.
