Chapter #8Trying to stay a float in the presence of Sin... by: Unknown Soon scales begin to fly toward you, you to ready your weapon and, in a moment of just pure instinct, you grip your staff like a baseball bat and jump on the guardrail. You hear someone, probably Tidus or Wakka, ask just what you were doing as you wind up and swing causing the sin scale you hit to go flying back at Sin! You smirk as a feeling of power replaced your earlier feelings of fear as you jump backwards; Kimahri easily catches you and helps you ready yourself as everyone watches you in awe.
A gleeful smirk quickly grows on Tidus face as he readies to repeat the same action as a sin spawn comes barreling at him… only for it to land on deck, resulting in Tidus just whacking it in the face! You chuckle as Tidus backs away from the now enraged sin spawn foot trooper, Tidus groans, now embarrassed that he screwed up in front of you, as he gets into his normal battle stance, raising his sword before him. Kimahri takes a step in front of you, standing ready to protect you as he twirls his lance before letting out a loud bestial roar causing you, Kimahri, and Tidus to charge forward!
You grip your fist and twirl your staff in your hands just as the first Sin spawn runs toward you, Tidus was about to strike it when you smack it with your staff and deliver a rather weak punch that results in your hand getting a bit scratched up.
“Ow” you cry backing away, your hand bleeding a bit due to the enemy’s scaly, armor-like skin “I think I just broke my finger!” However while you were momentarily stunned from tending to your injury the sin scale shot forward and, just as it was about to hit you with it’s wings, Kimahri stepped in and impaled the thing through one of it’s three violet colored eyes causing it to fade into pyre-flies.
“Thank you, Kimahri” you say with gratitude, Kimahri nods and holds out his hand to you. You nod and hold out your own as Kimahri drops a potion into your hand. You look up at Kimahri and he nods before jumping into the air, probably to use his Jump command on another sin scale.
You look at the potion in your hand; it was a small corked bottle with a strange green liquid inside of it. You bite the cork and it opens with a pop. You quickly pour the liquid onto your wounded hand and watch as the scratches on your hand magically seal up, fully restoring your hand to its former beauty. You smile and return to the fight, seeing that Wakka had taken your place up at the front lines. You look and watch as everyone focuses on the foot troopers while the big fin still remained undamaged, well unless you count that sin spawn you sent back at it. You looked back at your comrades and ran forward
"You've gotta go for the fin!" you shout, at first Tidus was about to raise a question but when a sin scale nearly tackled him he quickly shut up and started using his cheer spell to raise everyone’s strength and defense. Soon he and Kimahri were knocking out the sin scales in little more then one or two hits, but once one scale was destroyed another took its place. If the enemy didn’t turn into pyreflies when they died then the entire deck would’ve been covered in corpses. You try not to think about it as you focus on summoning Valefor while Lulu and Wakka cover you. For a few seconds you twirl your staff and spin around as pyreflies gather around you. Soon the pyre flies ascend into the sky and gather at a particular point as a small twinkle glows in the sky. Soon the mighty Valefor descends fro mthe sky, landing on the deck beside you. You smile and give it a gentle pat on the head before whispering something into her ear.
“Please, fight with us” you say and Valefor immediately nods taking to the sky. You smile and shoot your staff forward, pointing at Sin’s massive dorsal fin. Valefor nods and begins her attack! You nod as well and look back at Wakka and Lulu.
"Wakka aim for the fin! Lulu use your spells on the fin too!" you exclaim as you start to cast cura on the party, healing their wounds. Tidus and Kimahri feel themselves being healed and at each other as they turn back to fight the off the seemingly infant amount of sin scales with renewed vigor and strength. Within minutes Kimahri let loose another roared as he drove his spear into another sin scale while Tidus cartwheels forward and preformed his very first overdrive, Spiral Cut on one of the sin scales.
You watch as Valfore with a single command from you, flies off towards Sin and uses her Sonic Wings attack causing a lot of damage, at least a good three hundred point of damages by your guess. Soon you hear a loud monstrous cry as Sin moves around in the water causing the boat to tip towards the right causing everyone to try and catch himself or herself on whatever was closest, Tidus unfortunately lands on his back and starts to roll backwards towards the open sea.
"Aaaaaah" Tidus screams before suddenly seeing Kimahri shooting his hand forward as he himself grabs onto the guardrail for balance. They lock hands and Kimahri pulls Tidus back onto his feet just in time for Tidus to strike down a sin scale that was about to slash Kimahri in the back.
Kimahri smiled and nodded, returning the favor by slamming his spear in the ground and using it to pole vault over Tidus and jump kick a sin scale in the head, sending it overboard.
“Nice job” Tidus says with a cheer as Sin lets out another roar of pain due to Valefor using a fire spell on its dorsal fin. Sin once again moves causing the boat to tip once again, you grip the guardrail hard but due to the entire front deck now being covered in sea water thanks to Sin’s thrashing around, your grip on the guard rail slips, causing you to fall over board!
“Yuna!” everyone says in unison, minus Kimarhi of course, as you fall over board into the chaotic sea. Tidus and Wakka run forward just as the rope tied to the harpoon in Sin’s dorsal fin breaks sending the ship into an almost capsizing motion. Tidus fumbles forward and ends up landing in the water with a back plant while Wakka managed to jump ahead of time and dives into the water the proper way.
You slowly start to black out as water begins to fill your lungs. You’re vision fades as you watch Tidus and Wakka swim towards you before suddenly just passing out when something exceptionally hard shot through the water and smashed you in the head.
…
“…Is she going to be okay?” is the first thing you hear upon waking up from what seems like near death.
“T-Tidus?” you say weakly before under going a coughing fit. You hack and cough as seawater is purged from your lungs. You hack and cough like an old woman for at least a few minutes before you feel a gentle hand on your back. You open your teary eyes to see none other than Tidus at your side.
“Um h-hey…” Tidus says with a friendly smile “you alright?” You nod and cough once more.
“How are you feeling, Yuna? That was a very hectic battle we were just in. Are you alright?” Lulu asks walking up to you. You look up to her, you felt that you were somewhat in control of her; maybe it was automatic while this body was in control but that didn’t really matter now.
“I’m *cough* alright. Thank you *cough cough* Tidus” you say between breaths.
“Hey~! We’re back” called a voice. You look up to see Wakka and Kimahri walk in; Kimahri was holding a basket of rather juicy looking fruit, which made your stomach growl. Wakka then noticed you were now awake and smiled a wide happy smile “Yah! Yuna, glad you’re awake. Can’t be sleeping on the job now can yah?” Wakka joked making you smile. You try to stand up but you’re legs were still a little unresponsive.
“Oh hey, here. Let me help you up” Tidus says spontaneously. You look at him and give him a cute smile as he helps you stand up wit ha little bit of help from Lulu. The two walk you up to walk and you do a slight bow.
“I’m…sorry for making you all worry.” You apologize much like how Yuna does across most of this game.
“Hey, umm...no need to apologize. You really helped out…in that last fight I mean” Tidus explains trying to cheer you up.
“Yah. Besides if you hadn’t called that Aeon when you did we all would’ve been goners for sure” Wakka explains patting you on the shoulders and giving you a big smile.
“Don’t take yourself for granite Yuna.” Explained Lulu “you are after all the daughter of High Summoner Braska.”
“Yeah what she said. Now how’s about we head to the next temple and-“
“She has to perform the sending ritual first,” Lulu explained rather blandly, cutting Tidus off in the process.
“A-Alright. Where’s my staff” you ask looking around only to see that it was in Kimahri’s left hand. Kimahri looked down at it and then back at you. He nodded and handed you the staff. “Thank you, Kimahri.” Kimahri then sets the basket of fruit down on a nearby table and goes back outside. You hear your stomach growl when you look at the food, your mouth waters. Man why didn’t you eat before leaving on your epic quest to defeat an eldridge abomination the size of a flagship?
Lulu chuckles openly for once, getting a odd look from Tidus and Wakka, before she walked over and grabbed a piece of fruit from the basket.
“You can have this but you’ll have ot eat it before you perform the sending” Lulu explains handing you the fruit. You nod and take a large bite out of the fruit, quickly finishing it in a minute before leaving what you now realize was the inn.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
