You moaned loudly as you sat at the table studying, the same as always, on a perfectly good Saturday afternoon. You looked outside and felt like throwing away your homework and walking out. You debated with yourself for a good two and a half minutes before coming to a compromise. Picking up the homework, you poured every last paper into your backpack with a small smirk. You tried, and barely succeeded, to look normal as you walked past your dad's personal study, which was set near the door so that he could tell when people entered or exited.
"Dad, I'm going to the park." You said, and felt your heart skip a beat when you heard your voice and the barely concealed glee that was so easy to hear. You were about to open the door when you heard a quick yell from the library.
"Did you do your homework?" He asked through the study door in his unusually loud voice. You cringed a little, both from the idea he might wake your mom, and that he might have figured out that you left your homework for tomorrow.
"Yes." You said a bit too fast as you opened the door. Your dad was about to ask why you were talking so quickly when you closed the door with a quick "Bye dad!" As your dad wondered if he should check your homework, or if you were trustworthy enough to leave be, you began the fairly short walk to the park at a quick yet not too fast jog, hoping to get away from your dad before he could check your homework.
