This choice: This isn't a shooting gallery, and if it were the skunk wouldn't be a winner. • Go Back... The air filled with a putrid smell, and Sophie watched in terror as a torrent of thick mist shot by her, barely missing. But the terror wasn't for herself, it was rocketing towards Oesca. Her tomboyish friend's dark purple wings were wildly beating as she climbed higher and higher, away from the ravenous skunk below. Though it didn't look fast enough to Sophie. Just as she started to scream a warning, the mist ran out of momentum. It slowly drifted down, inches behind Oesca. Who moments later stopped to mock the angrily grunting and growling skunk below. "Nice try loser, looks like you're going hungry today, huh?" Sophie didn't stop, grabbing Oesca by the arm as she passed and dragging her along. Oesca gasping as another shot of mist hit where she had been hovering a moment before.
"Close, thanks Sophie." She muttered, a little angry at herself for not realizing the danger, and a little angry that Sophie had to save her. The skunk looked furious, hopping a little as it slunk into the grass below. She doubted it would give up so easily, but they were going to leave that overgrown smelly squirrel in the dust. She wrinkled her nose as she noticed the smell again, "You can let go now, I don't exactly feel like hanging around here now." She told Sophie, who was still clutching her arm. She looked like a ghost, even paler than usual and still hadn't let go of her arm. "Sophie, it was just that stupid skunk, are you ok?" Oesca wasn't sure if she was nervous or annoyed by Sophie's reaction, it just didn't seem like her to sweat it so much. This wasn't exactly something new to Faeries.
The fear had set in bad for Sophie. Sure she may have had worse experiences, but for some reason this one really hit her hard. For a moment she was sure it was going to get them, and she was going to be eaten. She could just imagine the disgusting creature chewing her up, shuddering at the thought. She barely heard Oesca beside her, pleading with her for attention. Nor did she realize how hard she was holding Oesca's arm, her knuckles white from the pressure. All she could think about was finding some Pixie's so she could feel safe again, and she knew just the place. There were training grounds nearby for the Pixie's, and there would definitely be Pixie's there at this time of day.
Neither of them could know the skunk hadn't given up quite yet. No, he still wanted them, maybe even more than ever now. That blond little bitch had mocked him, no faerie would mock him and get away with it. It made it's way through the grass as quickly as it could, trying to keep an eye on the rapidly fleeing Faeries. The blond looked to be fighting with that luscious redhead, which was perfect for him. The delay would just give him time to catch up and keep them in view. The skunk licked his lips in anticipation, already imagining the sweet taste of their flesh.
"HEYYY!!! LET GO!!" Oesca yelled, pulling at Sophie's fingers. It seemed to be the wake up call Sophie needed. The two stopped abruptly and Sophie let go, looking a little abashed, "I-I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me." Oesca gave her a dirty look, before finally breaking down and giving her a little smile. "You were starting to worry me, I've never seen you like that." She was still a little annoyed at Sophie, but she was a lot more relieved to have her back to normal. "Sorry... I lost my head there a little, but I think maybe..." Sophie started to say looking afraid to finish. Oesca waited a few seconds before losing patience, "Well?" "Well... I think we should go to the training grounds, maybe hang out with the pixie's for a bit." She gave Oesca a pleading look. "Go hang out with pixies?! No way!" Oesca couldn't stand pixies, they were like Faeries, but rather than just being obsessed with sex, they were aggressive about it. Besides, they took faeries like her as a challenge. They all competed for who would get a go at her first, like she was interested, as if. Worse yet, plenty of them were less than scrupulous with their methods. "Try and keep your mind out of the gutter Sophie, I'm not hanging out with pixies." She told Sophie, with a voice that said she wasn't going to budge. "How about this though, why don't we go to that clearing up ahead, we can rest and you can calm down." Oesca asked her, trying to offer an alternative. As much as she hated pixies, she didn't want to stop hanging out with Sophie. She wasn't going to tell her that though. Sophie looked torn, but eventually she decided.
