It was a nickname Yahiko hated being called. Everyone at the Akabecko, even Tsubume-chan, called him that. It meant he was a little squirt to them. It wasn't his fault he hadn't started growing yet!
"I wish I could start growing," thought Yahiko with a sigh as he went to get some ingredients that a cook asked him for. He was working at Akabecko when not training under Kaoru, so he could save up for a sakabotou (reverse-blade sword) like the one Kenshin has.
"Really? He's growing?"
Yahiko blinked and looked to a pair of customers. They were both women, and by their conversation, Yahiko figured they were mothers.
"Yeah. Ryuuske just suddenly eating a lot more and before I knew it, he turned from a little kid at my knee to reaching near my height," smiled the second mother.
"Well, it just shows you his time had come. All that extra nutrition must have allowed him to grow," said the first mother, "My Kenta's growing too. Soon he'll be tall as his father,"
Eating more helps you grow? Maybe this was what Yahiko was looking for!
