"Big brother is here?" Serenity smiled brightly at her nurse, sitting up a little straighter, pale fingers easing through her auburn hair self consciously, "He's really here? Really?" As the older woman smiled on seeing the young girl's enthusiasm, nodding just once to confirm her earlier words, the girl let out a delighted gasp, clasping her hands together. The pale pink pajamas her mother had gotten Serenity on first going into the hospital were close to becoming a second skin, the material straining to contain her fuller figure. A sizable pot belly bulged between the buttons of her pajama top, easily the most prominent feature of her weight gain. The rest of her was just that little softer, her upper arms and thighs as pliable as dough, her face rounder and far fuller in the cheeks.The nurse smiled to herself, Serenity looked a world away from the pale and skinny girl that she had first met just over three months ago.
"Hey, sis!" Joey stuck a hand up in greeting as he barged into the hospital room, grinning widely over the bunch of flowers he could only just grasp in his arms, "Sorry I'm late, Tristan kinda sucks at listening to an' followin' instructions." He passed the flowers to the bemused nurse, flopping down in the chair set up next to Serenity's bed, reaching out to take one of his sister's small, chubby hands in one of his own. He blinked slowly on seeing her fingers curl in against his longer, thinner ones, glancing up properly at his not so little sister now she was in closer range. "Whoa!" he exclaimed out loud, clasping a hand over his mouth the moment he had realised what he had done, "I uhh... you look so healthy! They treat you good here, huh?" He leant over to distract his sister with a hug, grimacing over her shoulder on how much harder it was to get his arms about the fatter and softer figure.
