You remember the first 'date' you went on with Stephen. He had won a challenge and earned a date with you. You had to wear a fairly revealing green dress, and it creeped you out who Stephen was almost literally salivating over every square inch of your body that was revealed. You were fairy happy that the two of you were separated by a perforated plexiglass, even though Stephen vocally expressed both his disappointment and the 'unnecessity' of the barrier.
Was 'unnecessity' even a word?
Back then, Stephen's eyes were barely visible through the rolls of fat covering them, and his eyes looked beady and piglike. And even through the barrier, there was always a sweetish slightly sickening smell that emanated from him.
How a year can change someone!
Stephen's counseling sessions helped the teenager deal with a lot of anger issues, and direct him toward healthy habits and activities. By the end of the season, Stephen was entering obstacle course races, and doing very well in them. The barrier was no longer necessary between Stephen and yourself, though on the last date, he insisted there would be one.
The reason for this was that he had created a miniature version of an obstacle course he had recently run, and wanted you to see what it was like. The barrier was to ensure that neither he nor you would be tempted to offer/ask for a little giant assistance.
At the end of the season, Stephen emerged on the set wearing a pair of swimming trunks. You had to admit that Stephen was definitely not the fat kid he had been at the beginning of the year.
