You had done a quick scan of the surrounding landscape and found nothing - and that's all you needed to get out and make repairs. You wanted off this planet quickly, whatever the hell it was.
But your scanning equipment covered...limited range on this gargantuan planet. Yes, there was nothing that close by, but 300-foot tall joggers? They could cover a lot of ground very quickly. So while you communicated with the rest of the crew who were scattered around the ship, in places like the engine room, cockpit etc, you were outside, trying to fix the ship's heat shielding conductors - and you were the first to see this gigantic runner. He was black, wearing swimming trunks and a shirt. Why he was jogging over here, you had no idea, and you didn't want to wait to find out. You had hesitated for several seconds upon seeing this enormous figure, trying to convince yourself it wasn't real, that you hadn't landed on a planet of hulking giants, that it was all a stress-based hallucination. But the vibration of his footsteps getting closer and closer, and all the more devastating, changed your mind. You didn't have much in the way of escape options, but the ship might provide some protection. You yelped and sprinted back inside, almost having to wade through the heavy sand.
