Chapter #6

A Zero-Hero

Despite his better judgement, Gary decided he was going to scare off the assailants. After all, he was the one left in charge of the house, and paid! His former thoughts of leaving now dissolved, as he only focused on saving that kid... This house made him feel stronger, braver. So, without his former cowardice, Gary tried to think of a plan to save the family... It was then Gary ran into the cat.

Now, Gary had expected a little cat, just like any other family's. Instead, he found a wild animal, that only minutely resembled its docile counterpart. The cat was colored in bold orange and red, similar to a tiger's coat. Gary looked him straight in the eyes wide and gold, and knew he wasn't dealing with any old housecat.

"Human. Get yourself and the young master out of here. Now."

Was the cat talking to him?! Gary swore he was going insane. But, the cat let out a low growl.

"Go, now! I will deal with them. You have to save the child. So go!"

The cat pushed him aside. Gary staggered, and...
