Kill Two Birds with One Stone... Out a Window

Gary knew that drawing the attention away from where Dillon was could possibly save the kid. Then they could both climb out that open window to safety. Just how could they do it?

Gary noticed on the floor a decorative rock collection on the shelf behind him. Too easy, perhaps? He clutched a nice sized piece of rock, and prepared to chuck it out one of the windows. After all, what's more alarming to a thief than somebody else breaking into the same house? He made his way into a second story room farthest away from the first floor room where Dillon sat. Eyeing a nice big window, Gary thought this would be child's play. Gary took the deepest breath of his life, and hurled the rock right out the glass window. The sound broke the silence deafeningly! He knew the robbers would hear that, but would they follow it as he had planned?

Gary could hear the stirring of the robbers, and a whole lot of running, but where were they headed?
