"Ugh, I hate documentaries!" Dawn grumbled as she covered her face with a nearby pillow
"I know, I know!" Barry tried desperately to pry the pillow from his friend's face, "But please watch this one!! It's REALLY cool!!"
Dawn exasperatedly rose to a seated position, her bed's fluffiness cushioning her butt. "Fine, but if I don't like it-"

The blonde boy flipped on Dawn's television screen to channel 56, just in time to catch the introduction of 'Mystery of the red Gyarados'
It was a relatively mundane documentary, really more of a publicity stunt for the Johto region if anything. The facts weren't even really straight, some said that the Gyarados was an artificially and prematurely evolved Magikarp and some said that the Gyarados turned red from rage. They couldn't even tell if the trainer who had defeated it was a boy or a girl!
"Well there's 3 hours of my life I'll never get back" Dawn complained
Barry jumped up suddenly, his stomach peeking out of his green undershirt. "WHAT?!" he screamed, "THAT WAS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN ON TV!! THAT WAS SOOOOOO COOL!!!" the blonde spoke a mile a minute, the last few words all sounded like a singular word in gibberish
"Barry!" Dawn yelled, "CALM DOWN!!"
"Ahaha... oh... right..." Barry cleared his throat, "Alright, now here's what I wanted to ask you..." he did his best to adopt a more serious, deeper tone of voice
Dawn leaned in closer, interested in her friend's seemingly endless crackpot schemes
"Well... if there's an alternately colored pokemon in Johto in a lake, then I figured that there has to be an alternately colored pokemon in the lake that we always played at when we were little!" His smile tested his cheeks, exposing his gums and squinching his eyes
Dawn raised a quizzical eyebrow
"Interested, good buddy ol' pal?" he bounced his eyebrows up and down at Dawn
