Ramone easily slipped off Jake's bed and snuck toward the front door. No one was around, so he quietly opened the door and started walking towards the shore.
In the darkness outside, Ramone was finding it difficult to make it to the other end of the island. He stumbled, tripping over tree stumps and falling into small ditches as he made it to his canoe.
As he approached the shore, the moonlight shining off the surface of the island, his eyes finally adjusted. Ramone started to inspect his canoe, when he heard a low growl coming from the shadows. He turned around, the green eyes of a pair of animals shining off the moonlight.
Ramone worked more quickly, trying to lift his boat off the sand it was embedded in. The animals walked slowly toward him, their sleek bodies sizing up their prey. They were panthers. They hissed and Ramone started shaking.
The animals advanced on him and Ramone took off in the opposite direction, running for his life. He made his way through the island, the leaves from low-lying trees whipping him in the face as he ran. He saw a tree that he could easily climb. roughly 30 feet tall, and began climbing.
He was about halfway up the tree, when he looked down, to see the panthers jumping futilely up at him. They stalked the bottom of the tree, waiting patiently for Ramone to stumble. However, once he made it to the top, he situated himself comfortably in a tree branch, his back resting against the body of the tree.
He looked down to see the panthers, curling up next to the tree, drifting off to sleep, making escape, at least for tonight, impossible. He was stranded in the middle of the island. Probably a few miles away from Jake and his family. Escape, at least for tonight, was impossible. Ramone eventually drifted off to sleep.

Ramone was awakened by a series of rumblings off in the distance. "Ramone!" a voice called out, "Ramone! Can you hear me?"
The man, looked over his shoulder, to see both Jake and his mother looking for him, their hulking frames being silhouetted by the morning sunrise. The rumblings Ramone heard were the giant's footsteps.
"Ramone, where are you?" the mother yelled out. The two were making their way slowly towards him. Ramone looked down to see the panthers had run off, probably scared by the giants footsteps.
He tried to move slowly down the tree, but with the tremors caused by Jake and Margaret's footsteps, he had a hard time getting a grip. Suddenly, his foot slipped
and Ramone grasped for the closest branch he could get ahold of. Thankfully, he grabbed it in time, but it also caught the attention of Jake's mother.
The tree shook and a few leaves fell to the ground, not to mention a flock of birds flew away, all thanks to Ramone. "Shit!" he muttered under his breath, as he tried to climb back onto the branch.
He succeeded, but not before a pair of eyes were staring at him. The hulking frame of whoever it was obviously knew Ramone was hiding in the tree.
Who was it?
