Terra, unknown to the Titans, was never actually dead. The statute was her creation, not her. And she made it to make they thought she was gone. She had to leave them, to try and move on. She started school, worked in secret with her powers. Then, she decided to reveal herself to the team. So she destroyed the statute, and let Beast Boy capture a glimpse of her. But when she saw him, his hope, his joy... she became nervous. So she lied, forcing him away. And it worked.
So she kept on working with her powers. And soon she learned she had a new power...
