Kallen was fighting Suzaku in her Guren Knightmare Frame. While she's putting up a good fight she's not giving it her all like she normally does. This was because she just found out that her commander Zero is her classmate Lelouch Lamperouge and not only that but he's true identity was the former 11th Prince of the Holy Britannian Empire Lelouch vi Britannia and that he has a power called geass that gives him mind control abilities so she still trying to get her mind around that. While she relived that her actions were own (he only used it on her to ask questions and it only works once per person) and it explains a lot about him and he's sister, she still coming to terms with it.
When she manages to her surprise get ahold of the Lancelot's head she pulled the trigger. But the live command Suzaku was under forced him to set he's newest device to work and it ends up reverse the Guren's fire. Kallen then ejected but not before getting some of the radiation. When she got stared at the Lancelot and was pissed. Lelouch rushed in he's knightmare frame to save her despite the fact that he wasn't as good a fighter as Kallen or Suzaku. Then all of a sudden much to everyone's surprise Kallen started to grow.
