"Act like everything is normal"

"We have to act like everything is normal until we figure something out," Leslie responded. "Amber and Tom will think we've gone crazy if we tell them what happened."
Nick looked over his female body again and then nodded. "You're right."
Nick made his way back to the living room. The tile floor was cold against his bare feet. His whole body seemed to jiggle when he walked and his hips swung back and forth with every step that he took. He also felt more aches and pains than we was used to. One in his left knee, another in his neck, a side effect of having aged 20 years.
"Everything alright in there Mom?" Amber said as she burped the baby.
It took Nick a second to realize that she was talking to him. "Oh yeah, everything is fine."
"Do you want to try holding the baby?"
"Sure," he said, stretching out his arms.
The baby felt bigger, then it dawned on him that his arms were just smaller. Only a few seconds after holding the baby, the baby began to cry.
"Sorry Mom, looks like she still hasn't gotten used to strangers yet. Nick can you take her?"
Leslie stood up with a big smile on her face. "Shhhh, it's ok. Daddy's got you." She said as she took the baby from Nick.
Nick couldn't believe that his own daughter saw him as a stranger now. He felt a strong arm reach over his shoulder and pull him in.
"It's ok honey, I'm sure she'll get used to you soon." Tom said as he comforted who he thought was his wife.
For a moment, Nick enjoyed the comfort, but when he realized what was happening he quickly stood up. "Um, don't we need to go Tom?" Nick asked. He couldn't stand being around his family in a different body. He wanted to get home and do some research on what could have possibly caused him and Leslie to swap bodies.
Tom glanced down at his watch, "Oh you're right! We've got dinner with the Greenwoods tonight and I know how long it takes you to get ready."
Nick's stomach sank. He was not looking forward to getting ready in a woman's body. Hopefully they'd be able to figure something out soon. His thoughts were interrupted by Amber.
"Bye Mom," she said, her arms outstretched waiting for a hug. Nick hugged his wife, but it felt much different than he was used to. For the first time in his life he was now shorter than his wife. He also had a pair of boobs that were smashing into hers. He quickly pulled away, not wanting to linger on the weird feeling.
"Bye Leslie," Leslie said, giving him a side hug like he always used to do.
"I'll text you instructions. We'll stay in touch." she whispered into his ear.
Nick made his way to the front door and pulled on his sandals. They fit perfectly on his smaller feet.
"Thanks for having us over," Tom said as they left.
Nick climbed into the passenger seat of his father-in-law's car and watched as they drove away, leaving his house, his family and his old body behind.
