Tom's eyes locked with the giant orbs of brown, too shocked to move. She too seemed surprised at the human at her feet. For a few minutes, neither one moved. The difference was that she was processing it faster.
"It's...a person..." she said. She began to reach out to him, but the movement got him scared and he turned to run. He took off as fast as he could, and turned his head to see how far he was from safety. All he saw was the palm of her hand. He yelped in shock and bolted faster.
