It was a rather lanky guy, somewhat your age as you can't really tell. He has his thick mop of brown hair spiked up rather messily and he is staring at you in surprise. Looking at the key on his hand, you conclude that the guy must be your roommate. The guy must have realized that he has been staring rather rudely because he suddenly coughed, and closed the door with an awkward smile.
"Er, hi. I take it you're my roommate?"
You nod, extending your arm for a handshake. "Yeah. I just got here."
"Oh, a new guy!" Your roommate exclaimed with a large grin. "I'm Dietrich Bruno, but you can call me Dirk." he said, shaking your hands enthusiastically. "What are your powers then?"
To be honest, you were kinda taken aback by Dirk's enthusiasm. Though, living in a boarding school of mutants must've been rather liberating that everyone is not afraid to show each other's powers. So, taking a breath, you replied, "Well, I can control metal."
"What? Like Magneto?"
There's that name again. "Yes... like that guy." You added slowly, feeling rather annoyed. "I can bend and disperse metallic substances and stuff, though I definitely can't float. At least, not yet. It would be cool though." you sigh, recalling how you've seen that particular mutant glide so easily over the air using his metal and magnetic powers.
"Yes, yes. It would be awesome." Dirk agreed. "Oh, right. You haven't told me your name."
Oh, right. Flushing slightly in embarrassment, you said, "Brent Faulkner. Nice to meet you, Dirk."
"Likewise." Dirk grinned, plopping down to one of the beds.
"What are your powers then?" You ask, genuinely intrigued. In your life, you haven't met many mutants before, and as you are kind of living a sheltered life, it's only natural to be curious.
Dirk sported another wide grin at your question. "I'll just simply show ya." He thrust his hand outwards, to the direction of the desk on his side of the room. You watch in amazement as the drawers slid out and a stream of electronic parts came flying out, orbiting around Dirk's outstretched hand, slowly assembling themselves together as wires attached themselves to circuitry boards, metals shifts, buttons assembled themselves, gears whirled. It's like watching a rather odd dance. The next second, a fully assembled Gameboy was lying on Dirk's hand, beeping cheerfully.
"Whoa..."
"Yep. Technopath at your service." Said Dirk, seemingly pleased with himself. "I can build a lot of things, but nothing major just yet. Though, I've experimented with a few things, like an EMP emitter and the like." he trailed off, humming thoughtfully. "Say, can you show me what you can do with your powers?"
You thought about it. Should you show Dirk your powers? Or shouldn't you and tell him to wait first?
