King Arthras uses the disguise potion to spy

    by: Lil'lily Author IconMail Icon
After Kelos had left, Arthras stood alone in his study, considering his options. The thought of simply abandoning this life seemed appealing. After considering it for a few moments, he shook his head. There was no way he could simply flee and leave both his daughter and kingdom in the hands of that bastard's son. No, he'd use a potion to disguise himself, find out the prince's fiendish machinations, then expose them to Fia. He looked over the potions, which Marlin had labeled for him, and spotted one that read ten year old girl. This would be Kelos' punishment once exposed. If, on the off chance the prince was sincere, then Arthras could slip away, assured that Fia and Traeven were in safe hands.

The question at hand now is what form to take to approach Kelos. Arthas looked over the others. Five year old girl? Surely not. What business would such a child have getting close to a prince? Although perhaps it would be better for punishment than ten for the soon to be little princess? Five year old boy was much the same, there was little chance of getting close. Ten year old boy though? Perhaps that could be useful. Arthras could claim to be the son of a minister and wanted to become a knight, and wanted Kelos to teach him. That arrogant prince would certainly take the bait and at least let the kid follow him around. Still, was there a better choice?

The king looked over the rest of the potions. Horse? Not exactly what he was looking for. The opportunities to spy would be limited. Cat? This one certainly had potential. In a small, feline form, the king could follow the Kelos unseen, slip into his room, hide, and observe everything. Still, he'd be relying on the topic of his deceptions to come up naturally. A human form would seem more suited. 18 year old woman - maid. This also had potential. He could transform, seduce the prince, and get him to reveal his deepest secrets. A maid should have at least enough physical strength to use a sword if it came down to needed to defend herself. The other potions seemed less promising or highly situational. 18 year old man - scholar, hound, chicken, and return. That last one likely undid the effects of any of the others. Having reviewed the potions, Arthras decided on one. He picked it up, and drank the vial in a single gulp. He put it back down just as he felt his body begin to change.
