...letting the ingredients cook together in the pot briefly before pouring on the water and stirring it all together. Almost immediately she figured out she did something wrong. A strange, smokey smell came wafting from her pot, prompting her to quickly add the water and mix everything together. Unfortunately, her taste buds confirmed her fears: it was too little too late. Everything was obviously overcooked, but the water didn't look or taste like a broth. Only mercy from Rise would give her a passing meal.
"Bowl A: Pass."
Each of the chefs for this round became significantly more relaxed. It meant Rise's only possible bias was to keep everyone clothed, and that didn't seem likely since she proposed the stripping. This was definitely a fair contest so far, and a good tone was set for the game.
Unfortunately, Nanako became flustered when she began reading again. "B-Bowl B: Fail."
It wasn't a surprise, but certainly not something Nanako enjoyed, especially since it made her the first failing dish. She could only hope this loss of a slipper would be made up in the next three dishes.
She continued, "Bowl C: Fail."
This one didn't make any sense to anyone. Surely Naoto cold channel some of that deductive ability into cooking, and do it somewhat correctly. Why was she stripping on the first course? Is this low point really Naoto's level? Regardless, they knew it wasn't malice: Naoto tossed her hat without any objection.
"Bowl D: Pass."
Chie audibly sighed, obviously relieved. Best of all, she officially had bragging rights over Naoto. Even if the other courses were terrible and Naoto managed to make edible meals, Chie at least knew how to make Miso Soup to some degree.
"Keep going, Nanako-chan," Rise urged. "We're all set."
