As he was about to pick the pieces up, footsteps were heard before Tails turned to the doorway to the sight of Shadow, who was staring at him. “Where is she, Tails?” He asked.
“Where is who?”
“Don’t fool me, kid. I know Rouge is here somewhere. She was supposed to be at a meeting last night, but she didn’t show. So, I checked around. I went to Angel Island, Knuckles said she wasn’t there, I called Amy, who told me to ask Sonic, who in turn told me to ask you since you were the only one reliable to tell me. So, where is Rouge?”
“Well...”
“Shadow?” Rouge’s voice surprised the both of them as they turn to see Rouge by the doorway.
“Wah, Rouge! I thought I put you down for a nap.”
“I was, when I heard Shadow’s voice.”
Surprised and disgusted at seeing his colleague’s state, Shadow glares at Tails. “Miles Prower...”
“Shadow, wait!” Tails said, standing up with his hands held out. “I can explain!”
