The dragon saw the small human shiver from the cold floor.
"He has not harmed me," the dragon thought, "And his actions are controlled by that evil man. We have more in common than I thought. I can take him into my territory for the evening." The dragon nodded to its thoughts. Carefully, the dragon lowered its head to the human and picked him up by his shirt. It moved the boy to its side and laid him against part of its body that wasn't held down by chains. It then lowered its head next to Felix, holding him snugly against the warm torso. The dragon saw Felix had a content smile on his face before the dragon fell asleep as well.
Morning came and Felix slowly woke at his usual time.
"I don't want to wake up," Felix thought, "I feel so warm right now in my bed. I haven't been this comfortable in bed since . . . I can't even recall. Even if it means a kick, this warmth is worth it." Felix pressed slightly into the scaly body and realized this wasn't his bed. Quickly his eyes shot open and he saw the large dragon head at his side.
"Oh Gods, it's going to eat me for a morning snack!" Felix thought, breathing heavily. His panic worsened when he saw the large eyes of the dragon open and look to him. The cloud dragon kept its head low as a sign of welcoming the human into its territory, but soon noticed the human was still scared of him.
"Perhaps his pain has gone on far longer than mine and that's why he's scared of me, even now?" the dragon thought before moving its head away to give Felix some space.

Felix saw the opening and bolted to the door, pounding on it.
"Let me out please!" Felix cried. The guard on the other side opened the door and hit Felix to shut him up. He looked over and saw the bowl full of water.
"All right, get out," the guard said, glaring at Felix. "But I'll see you in about ten minutes, cuz it's almost feeding time for the beast." Felix felt his heart race before he bolted out of the dungeon. The cloud dragon watched the boy flee, wondering if the boy could be a friend in this dark place.
