Needed Escape

"What's taking the damn slave so long?" the guard wondered, "He's never taken this long before. Maybe he's dead. If he is, I doubt the lord will be displeased." With that, the guard picked up his keys and jingled them as he moved to the lock.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------

Felix heard the keys jingle and it woke him from his daze. He quickly released the hug and backed away. The gryphon was woken from her daze when Felix suddenly released her. She looked at him and started coming closer to him once more, choking herself as a result.

"No! Stop! Stop!" Felix said quietly, "I can't stay, but I'll be here again tomorrow, all right?" The gryphon looked sad and cocked her head slightly, unable to understand his words.

"What's he saying?" the gryphon thought, "Is he scared of me again?" Then she saw the human point to himself and then at the door and then her at the corner she came from.

"He wants me to go to my corner?" the gryphon thought before hearing the guard moving the heavy door and saw why. She gave a slight nod and rose up and went to her corner, while Felix went to the door just as the guard looked in.

"You're alive. What took you?" the guard asked, glaring at the slave.

"The gryphon came into the light to get the water and it scared me and I tried not to make any sudden movements. Thankfully it didn't want to eat me, so I was safe," Felix said, looking at the powerful guard. He nodded indifferently, buying the story as Felix tried ran off.

"Hey, aren't you going to feed the damn thing?" the guard hollered.

Felix looked and saw that the deer's corpse was still out of the gryphon's reach because it was at the opposite wall. "Right, I was so scared that I forgot about the food," Felix told the guard.

"That's probably why it didn't eat you, you're not large enough for a meal. It needs the deer to be full," the guard explained.

Felix nodded and dragged the deer to the light. The gryphon didn't grab the deer till both the guard and Felix were out of the cell. Both he and the gryphon felt much better knowing they had a true friend in the other.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Over the next few days, Felix spent as much of the feeding time holding the gryphon's head or stroking her body. Both of which she enjoyed.

"He's so nice now. He's so wonderful," the gryphon thought, looking at her human caretaker as he was talking to her about what his day was like, but she didn't understand him just yet.

Felix was also surprised when he looked between the gryphon's hind legs and saw no outer genitals, realizing the "he" he had been referring the gryphon as in his mind was actually a "she". Felix also noticed how difficult it was to leave the room as every day the gryphon would become sadder and sadder with each passing day. This was because of the comfort received from Felix, the gryphon was seeing Felix as its close friend and was very loyal to Felix by now.
