When Jason heads back to the camp

    by: Kilbil Author IconMail Icon
As Jason hurried back to camp, the bucket of fish held firmly behind him as he watched the ground in front of him dutifully, his mind began to wander back to the shiny object he had seen earlier. The unnatural flash, the smooth texture, the warm, strange feeling that was still lingering in his body - something was definitely up with that. He swore he hadn't seen anything like it in his life, certainly not on Earth. It had to be some kind of alien artifact, or maybe it was the remnants of some lost advanced civilization from the past that nobody knew about until him! Now he felt a bit bad for just running like a coward when he could've been exploring what was going on like a true adventurer would!

Oh well, he had fish to deliver, and once he arrived, he could always try convincing the rest of the group to come with him to find for of those weird shiny objects, just to see if they could find their origin source. Speaking of, he could already see the camping site in the distance, and just like that, he could already hear two all-too-familiar voices heralding his return:

"Finally, you came back! We've been waiting for-EVER for you, we're practically starving to death here!"

"Um, i-it's only been, uh, ten minutes..."

"Well that's at least, like, five minutes too long!"

"W-well, I'm not really hungry myse-"

"Well, too bad, 'cause we're eating good tonight!"

At this declaration, a 9-year-old fair-haired boy practically scurried at Jason, his timid mirror image reluctantly following behind him. The twins always seemed to be the first to give their input on just about every situation, and it seemed as though today wouldn't be an exception, the others looking on in mild bemusement as Jason tried his best to hold off Jamie Pearson's attempts to grab at his bucket of fish and give himself an early case of salmonella poisoning like he always seemed to do. Oddly however, it felt...easier that it normally did. His hands, normally practical stubs that would work overtime to push against Jamie's squirming form, were very easily keeping him at bay now from the forehead onward, and was it him, or did his hand take up more of Jamie's face that it should?

Before he could ask any more question, the unquestioned leader of their group, 14-year-old William Bears, casually strolled up to the two and pulled them part, looking at the both of them with an easygoing grin.

"Hey Jamie, I know you wanna make yourself sick from raw fish already, but I'll look bad if I let you choke now while the counselors are away for the week!", the brown-haired, somewhat shaggy boy chided.

As Jamie was left squirming, Jason was left wondering something - what exactly had happened, and would people notice?

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. At the cookout, they do notice him growing.

2. No one notices him growing for the rest of the day.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
