Nikki answered the door when you knocked on it. In the snottiest voice possible, she told you that neiither Dan nor her parents were home. She also let you know that you interrupted her sleep (as evidenced by the fact she answered the door in her robe and pajamas).

You don't mind that Nikki is home alone. Dan is a really good friend, and you'd feel guilty about experimenting on Nikki with the strange gun if he or his parents were home. As it is, Nikki's attitude makes it that much easier to test the gun on her. Nikki is insanely hot, after all. Even in an old bathrobe and very unsexy pajamas, she is hot.
