Steven woke up to find himself in the beautiful red-haired body of Jean Grey...in the Phoenix outfit. Yet he felt so much more powerful than just Jean Grey. Flames surrounded him like an aura, mysteriously not burning him or anything else. He felt hunger build up inside of him.
But he realized that this must be the hunger Dark Phoenix felt, which made her eat a universe. Yet he was so hungry, he couldn't help himself.
However, he first realized the necklace was missing. Then he thought "Good riddance. That necklace may have made me this goddess, but I have a feeling it would have just screwed me over." Then he wondered why he thought himself a goddess.
Looking at his new beautiful body, and feeling unlimited power surge through him, he realized why. No longer referring to "Steven" or things like "He" when it came to the person he now was, it was decided he was now Dark Phoenix. Forever.
Dark Phoenix burned down a wall of the room, by just thinking about it. Dark Phoenix then planned to feast on a universe, but first surveyed her beautiful body, burning with heat that only Dark Phoenix could handle. And Dark Phoenix somehow wanted to handle herself.
Meanwhile, Rachel had grabbed the necklace while Steven was asleep. Rachel went to see Steven, only to briefly see Dark Phoenix.
Dark Phoenix teleported to the stars, far away from Rachel. Dark Phoenix enjoyed her body to the fullest (which the only reason she did so, unknown to her, was because that was the last thing Steven wanted...and with that done, Steven was gone). She then teleported back to Steven's room, to meet the mere mortal Rachel face-to-face. Rachel was scared. To say the least. Still, Dark Phoenix only came back for the necklace, to make sure no one could use its power against her. And Rachel had it in her hands.
Dark Phoenix prepared to take the necklace, for once it was destroyed, she would devour this pathetic universe. Only Rachel stood in her way.
