Later that afternoon, your dad gets home and dumps his briefcase on the kitchen table. Nearby, Cole sits with his sneakered feet up on the coffee table and watched TV.
Your younger teenage brother has long blond bangs that sit on his forehead and delicate nose, he wears a size small polo shirt and some clean jeans with his Converse Chucks. Although young Cole is the neatest and possibly the most favoured of all your dad's boys, you know that underneath all that cuteness and chirpiness is an evil little monster.
Cole lives to make your life a living hell. He steals from you, tries to boss you around, teases and irritates you with every spare second he has and whenever he's caught making trouble, your dad manages to overlook his mischief and chalk it up to him being the attention-starved baby of the family.
"Dad, you're home!" Cole scoots toward your dad, his blond locks bouncing. "Hey listen, I wanna ask you something. I know you said I couldn't have a hampster after what I did to the last one, and I learned my lesson with the mice and the goldfish, but I reeeally want a pet rat. I promise I'll take care of it and play with it every day and-"
"Hold on a sec, little buddy. I brought home something else I think you might like." Dad clips open his briefcase and carefully extracts a living, breathing kicking being. Cole's eyes widen into perfect circles as your dad goes on. "You'd be learning responsibilty for yourself and teaching somebody else a valuable lesson.. So what do ya say, sprout? Think you can handle being your big brother's master?"
"Yes, Sir." Cole's cheeks form a grateful smile as he wraps his warm, clammy fingers tightly around your body.
