Who knows how long it would've taken her if she gone through the ruined street? She also didn't want to bank on any hidden biters to grab onto her ankles. So Claire trusted the advertisement's words that Kendo's shop was still open. The young brunette sprinted forward, she glimpsed behind herself to quickly note the incoming shamblers.
She ran through the alleyway's lights, the sight was somewhat comforting to the woman. Claire followed the path outlined by tthe name Kendo in bright white with a blue arrow background. Soon she arrived right in front of the store. "Kendo Brothers Armaments and Supplies" proudly flashed in neon, or in this case, burnt neon.
Claire hesitantly grabbed a hold of the door handle and pushed forward. She slowly crept her way into the store.
"Freeze!" A voice said. It wasn't loud, but the tone of authority made Claire instantly seize up. She looked at the counter to see a middle age man, hefty in the middle but still fit somewhat fit, aiming a crossbow at her. He showed sighs of having some Japanese ancestry in him,but besides that he appeared like any other Mid-Western American.
"Don't shoot!" Claire said the second time this night. "I'm not one of them."
The large man looked surprised at that, he lowered his weapon and paced towards Claire. She stiffened then relaxed as she saw him lock the door behind Claire.
She heard him mumble about bought locks and other things. The man put down his crossbow onto the counter and stared at Claire.
"Robert Kendo." He introduced himself. "I haven't seen you around."
"Claire Redfield. And if you don't know me,well, that's because I've just arrived here."
"Redfield?" Robert's eyes widened at her surname. He seemed to calm down even more so at that."I know your brother!"
"You do?" Claire asked. "How? Where is he?"
"I personally make the city's S.T.A.R unit's weapons. Well,me and my brother anyways, and he's out of town. As to where he is, I don't know. I'd have a word with him if I did however." Robert grumbled. Claire slumped down at his words.
"Although, you can try the police station, maybe that's where he's at."
Claire brightened a little from his statement. She was going there anyways, but the chance that Chris could've been there was reassuring.
"Do you know what's going on with the city,Mr. Kendo?"
Robert scratched the back of his head while he inspected his crossbow. A huff of air came from out of his nose.
"I wish I knew. Once I even knew there was something wrong, the whole town's been infested by zombies."
Claire internalized that tidbit however other matters took priority in her mind. She needed to head towards the police station and find some answers.
"Thank you so much. Its been nice chatting with you but I have to leave. I can let myself out the front door if you don't mind."
"Wait. I'll lead you out back. My shop's leads right into alleyways. You follow ever twist and turn and you'll be at the police station's ...east wing? I can't exactly remember at the moment." Robert explained as he moved away from the counter. Claire followed the man until she back outside. A wire fence stood before her, to her left she saw a closed door. Robert took a keychain out,he popped a key into the socket, twisted, the distinct sound of an unlocked mechanism echoed through the air.
"Thank you, again." Claire said. "Why don't you come with me? If the police are still around, maybe we can bunker down with them?"
"Nah. My store's my fortress. It has everything I need; food, water, ammo, and enough guns to- well it had enough guns until the looters came two days ago. I also have some other...obligations I need to finish."
Robert disappeared and Claire was just about to open the door that lead out of the wire fence. But Kendo walked back out with some ammunition. He threw the packages at her, Claire grabbed them straight from the air.
"Here, a safety precaution." The gunsmith stated.
Claire smiled and walked away from Kendo's shop. Into the unknown she went, hopefully nothing would attack on her journey to the station.
