Chapter #6
Doctor Moriarty silently steps in
by: Unknown
Jim continued to stare in utter shock; his mouth hung wide open. Lying on the bed in front of him were his older twin brothers. Their near identical faces resting in a blissful sleep, unaware of anything. Unaware that they were now conjoined twins. "Wh-what happened... What happened to us?" He failed in holding back the tears and fell back onto the bed he woke from. Jim's breathing quickened. It grew faster and faster. The breathes grew shallower. Panic was overwhelming him.
"Sssssshhhhhh.... You probably don't want to wake them just yet." A calm voice said.
Jim, fighting to control his breathing, looked up. By the door to the hallway, an older man was quietly looking at Jim, with a finger still on his lips. The man looked familiar to Jim, but he could not place his face.
The man dropped the hand holding a finger to his mouth and gave him a small smile. His eyes had a devilish gleam about them. "I'd imagine that your brothers will have a greater reaction on waking than you did. Best let them rest for now." The man took a few steps closer, and Jim reacted by scooting further away on the bed. "No need to be frightened my boy." The man said, stopping in the middle of the room. "I thought you would want to personally thank me for the gift I have given you, and your family."
"Wh-What... gift?" Jim asked in a small voice.
"Yes, a gift. Each of you got one." The man's smile grew brighter. "But... I can see that you might need some time to fully appreciate what I have offered you here at my hotel."
"You-Your hotel? Moriarty?" Jim asked.
Ignoring Jim's question, Moriarty turned and headed for the door to the hallway. Opening the door to the hallway, Moriarty stopped halfway out and turned to looked at Jim. "Have a wonderful stay."
Jim raised one of his left hands towards the door and yelled, "Wait!" A web string shot out from that hand and hit the top corner of the door, leaving a strong cobweb. Moriarty was gone.
