Johanna chose the tunnel to the right.
"See ya at the end of the line," she purred, disappearing into the inky black. She soon realized this tunnel was different from the others.
Cold, sharp protrusions irritated her thick, padded paws and the smell was foreign to even her sensitive nose. Fearless, she continued forward in spite of these peculiarities. In the distance, from which direction she could not tell, she heard a screech. She pricked her ears and scanned for the way, but the noise seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere all at once. Her heightened and usually very useful senses were failing her in this place and that caused her hackles to rise and her nostrils to flare and search the air, deeper intakes of the atmosphere yielding nothing that could enlighten her.
