Help from the fortress

Thirty centimetres from the ceiling, three small white cubes dropped from holes in the ceiling in front of each of the two adventurers.

Johanna sniffed hers and figuring there was little to lose at this point. Within a matter of seconds, she was no longer feeling stuffed.

"Richard, eat the cubes. I think they're our ticket out of this."

Richard ate his and the two started making short work of the room full of fudge, first overcoming the influx, then gradually lowering the level.

Several hours later, their feet touched the floor again, although the doors remained shut until they'd drunk the fudge right down to the floor.

Looking at each other there was no sign that either of them had easily drunk a dozen cubic metres of fudge. Neither was full nor hungry.

"I have no idea how that worked, but I'm gad to be alive," remarked a relieved Richard.

"Yeah, but how did we manage to drink so much without any change in appearance?"

"Maybe those cubes gave us bottomless stomachs?"

"Well, we're probably going to pay for that in a few days, but until then, let's make the wise-guy responsible for this place pay."

The two headed out into the castle. It wasn't until a good half a kilometre of corridors later that they ran into trouble again.
