Chapter #11

A Long Winding Maze

    by: BeforeTheBubble Author IconMail Icon
Mara opened her eyes only to find herself in a great winding labyrinth! Hallways and corridors went every which way. She looked around for any sign of where to go, but nothing, not even the parasitic sludge in her, gave any hint at directions. She wandered around the labyrinth looking for any semblance of a way out, but to no avail. The place was too confusing to navigate, the rooms she would enter would challenge her understanding of space as she would find rooms that would normally cross another path with another part of the maze, only to lead to another winding rout. “sigh This is awful… How long can one contemptible maze go on for?”

Finally the moss encrusted stone wall, started to show signs of recent use. It was still an incomprehensible labyrinth, but at least the scenery changed to a pristine, smooth stone, and it was comforting to know that she was making some kind of progress.

After walking almost aimlessly for what seemed like hours her stomach begins to growl. “Still yourself friend… You’ll get sustenance soon enough… I hope,” she reassured her belly. Just then she felt her body stiffen and begin to move without her guidance! It was definitely sludge controlling her, but where was it taking her?

After multiple turns through the winding Labyrinth, the creature relinquished control back to Mara. She took a look around and where the sludge guided her only to find a feast right in front of her! Before said feast was a message chiseled into stone. It was in some sort of ancient dead language. Our heroine quickly casted comprehend languages.

“Let’s see ‘The Minotaur has blessed you with a feast! You will partake lest you wish to offend him and incur his wrath!’ This is certainly a trap. Maybe the food is poisoned or highly addictive… Although Minotaur’s aren’t known for poison… or cooking now that I think of it. Perhaps if I-“ Her train thought was interrupted by another loud plea from her gut. “Well… it does all look very good… and a Minotaur’s wrath does sound bad…”
