You and Megan's family finish dinner. As you help with the cleanup you think about what you said earlier. You don't know where that came from, you asking Megan's family to basically think of you as your girlfriend. However, you saw that her family were touched by the suggestion and you were happy to do something to make them feel better through their grief.
Since you have spent most of the day flying to the beach house, you decide to call it an evening and go to bed early. You say goodnight to Megan's family and begin heading to her bedroom. As you do so you begin to think about the past couple of summers. Even when her parents were divorced Megan's family always decided to spend summers together in the beach house. You would often travel over yourself for a week or two each summer. You remember always having a great time. Her family always included you in their activities when you were there. Todd enjoyed having another male in the house to talk guy stuff, watch football and he even included you in the poker games he would often have with his buddies that lived in the area. And you spent every other moment with Megan. You shed a tear as you remember the dates you shared, riding bikes along the countryside, holding hands walking the beach, and of course the end of summer formal held at the town hall.
You reach her room and notice how strange it looks, devoid of anything that was Megan's. You assume that her family has her stuff put away in the attic. Still, you can somehow still detect her presence, like she is still here somehow.
You put on your PJ's and get in bed. As you begin to fall asleep you mutter, "You know I would have done anything for you Megan. Anything."
