"Kyo, please be more careful with the ray!" Yuuta scolds his friend and takes the ray from her.
"W-Wait a minute..." Etskuo starts. "That was Yuuta's shrinking ray, wasn't it? D-Does that mean I'm going to shrink!?" The shy girl began to worry.
"Don't worry, Etskuo!" Kyo assured her. "We tried the ray earlier and nothing happened, so Yuuta still has a few bugs to fix before the ray works! Besides, even if you do shrink, wouldn't that be so cool!?"
"Um... I, I guess..?" Etskuo was unsure.
"You're not going to shrink, though." Yuuta said. "I think it might be a while before this thing shrinks anybody." He held up the ray for Etskuo to see.
"Okay, phew!" Etskuo said, relieved. "I know you guys like shrinking, but..." She trailed off.
"So the ray's not working yet? Aww man!" Kyo whined. "Oh well. Yuuta, let me know when it is done! Etskuo and I are going downstairs!" Kyo grabbed Etskuo's arm and dragged her out of the room. Yuuta simply smiled and waved goodbye to them.
"B-Bye, Yuuta!" Etskuo barely got out before being rushed out of the room by her energetic friend.
But, unbeknownst to the group, the shrinking ray had already started to work. Everyone was already a couple of inches shorter than normal, it was just that the process was slow enough that none of them had noticed it yet. Even Etskuo who was shot with the ray at a later time than Yuuta and Kyo, was already shrinking at the same pace as her friends.
The girls made their way downstairs, where Kyo insisted on watching TV. Etskuo gladly complied and sat down on the couch, while Kyo brought some snacks. The two girls sat and watched, their eyes glued to the action of their favorite anime. Then halfway through the show, something happened...
