Chapter #4

The entity see the librarian

    by: Unknown Author IconMail Icon
The Entity wandered deeper into the library, its gaze landing on an adult woman seated at the librarian’s desk. Her name tag read "Ms. Harley" She was in her early thirties, wearing glasses perched on her nose, and she had a meticulous bun that screamed authority. Her focus was on the computer screen as she cataloged books.

With a mischievous smile, the Entity decided to shake things up. It waved its small hand, and Ms. Harley's figure shimmered briefly, her entire reality rewriting itself.

In moments, the librarian was gone. Sitting in her place was a teenage girl with long, wavy red hair tied up in a high ponytail. She wore a cheerleading uniform in bright red and white, the letters "RHS" emblazoned across her chest. Confused, Ms. Harley, now just "Harley," blinked and looked around.

“Wait… why am I at the librarian’s desk?” she muttered, standing up and smoothing her skirt. Her pom-poms rested on the desk next to her. “That’s so weird. Did I… forget practice or something?”

The group of teenage girls across the room waved her over. One of them, a bubbly blonde named Brittany, called out, “Harley! What are you doing? Stop spacing out and come here!”

Harley tilted her head for a moment, but a wave of calm washed over her. Of course, it made sense. She wasn’t a librarian. She was Harley, the co-captain of the cheerleading squad. Shaking off her confusion, she grabbed her pom-poms and jogged over to her friends.

“Sorry, Britt,” Harley said, sliding into the chair next to her. “I don’t know what came over me. I felt like… I was working or something. So weird.”

Tiffany, a brunette with a sharp wit, smirked. “Working? Please, Harley. The only thing you’re working is that routine for Friday’s game.”

The girls burst into laughter, and Harley laughed along, her confusion completely forgotten.

Brittany leaned in conspiratorially. “So, spill. Did Jason text you back yet?”

Harley groaned dramatically. “No! Can you believe that? He left me on read for, like, three hours.”

Tiffany rolled her eyes. “Typical.”

As the group chattered, the Entity watched from behind a bookshelf, delighted by the transformation. Harley’s old life as a librarian was gone, replaced with her new identity as a spirited cheerleader. No one around her thought it was strange or unusual—it had always been this way.

Harley twirled a strand of her hair absentmindedly. “Okay, but for real, do you think we’ll nail that pyramid this time? I swear if Brittany’s off by even a second, we’re doomed.”

“Excuse me?” Brittany said, feigning offense. “I’m flawless. You, on the other hand, need to stop overthinking and just jump.”

The Entity giggled softly as it moved on, curious about who else it could "change" in this charming little library.
