Everyone thought Mariam was done growing. At 18, and 7'3", it was a reasonable guess. But for some inexplicable reason, Mariam kept growing. And growing faster, it seemed. Before, she grew about 4 inches a year. Now it's more like 4 inches a month.
Sadly, this growth caused her to be disqualified from the Olympics. This was because when she registered, she was measured as 7'3". Then, in a follow-up physical two months later, she was measured as 7'11". The board decided that she had to be doping on something, even though they couldn't find anything in her blood. She and Zeinab did not want to complicate matters, so they decided to withdraw from the Olympics.
By her 19th birthday, she measured 8'7". She was so tall, that her parents barely reached her belly button. Her growth increased even more, and went up to 6 inches a month. Every once in a while, she would have an additional growth spurt. It was hard to keep up with how tall she was at any given time.
Two months later, she reached 10'. Twice as tall as her mother, and dwarfing just about anyone else. Not only was she the tallest living woman, but also the tallest person in history. Her legs seemed to stretch on forever.
Zeinab was getting worried. Her sister was growing too tall, and it seemed like there was nothing anyone could do to stop it. Although it didn't seem to concern Mariam. She seemed to like the feeling of power she exuded over anyone she encountered. She was not keen for this to stop.
