Hannah lay awake for hours that night, trying to figure out where her relationship with Luis was going. She was sure he was noticing the same subtle innuendos they had been tossing around for the last few weeks. What had he meant by asking her that strange question, "Who will save me from you"? Why had he even asked it?
"Arrg! This is just too much for me to have to unravel tonight, I must get some sleep!", she had said to herself. She rolled over and pulled the bed covers over her head. Sleep finally came, but would only last three short hours, during which time she would dream of Luis.
Hannah woke smiling the next morning and, not knowing why, jumped out of her bed and raced to find something cheerful to wear for the day. One glance at the clock told her she was going to run out of steam before the day was over, but she shrugged it off. For the moment, she was energized and couldn't wait to get to the school.
It wasn't until she was brushing her teeth that she remembered part of her dream of the night before. It was just a flash of Luis, but he was smiling like she had never seen him smile before. He was saying something to her, yet his mouth uttered nothing. It was more like his eyes were talking and she couldn't quite read what they were saying. Frustrated, she tried harder to remember more of the dream.
They were walking in an immense field of long grass and wildflowers, laughing and teasing each other as they always had. She looked around and realized that Luis was no longer beside her. He had dropped down into the tall grass and was laying on his back with his hands under his head. As she went back to see what he was doing, she realized he was just lying there smiling. She snickered and asked, "Is this going to become a habit with you Luis?" Luis had just continued to smile at the sky with a look of dreamy realization spread across his face. "It just might be Hannah. It seems you have an effect on me that I think I am only just beginning to understand."
