Chloe closed her burning eyes. She had been watching TV all day. The bright colors of the television lit up the living room, and she could see the shadow of her mom walk past.
“Goodnight sweetie, don’t stay up too late.” she said as she slunked past the couch, walking upstairs.
Chloe didn’t reply, too tired to register she had been spoken to until it was too late to respond. She yawned. Digging a little deeper into the soft cushions, she tried to resume her late night binge but fell asleep shortly after.
In her dreams she saw familiar faces, but…fat? She tossed and turned on the couch. She dreamt of her obese family, going to school with her fatty classmates where they did nothing but eat. All day, all the time, she felt food being crammed into her mouth and flushed down her throat. She groaned as she slowly awoke, her nose sniffling from the sweetness of syrup.
A hand rested on her shoulder and began to rub, “Honey, breakfast is ready.” softly spoke her mother.
