The mage's hand trembled slightly as she threw the fireball, but it was swift and accurate. The zombie girl saw it coming and ducked, the flaming orb barely missing the tip of her hair. She rolled away, the heat searing through the damp fabric of her dress. The swamp water hissed as the fireball sizzled into the murky water.

Her heart racing, she knew she had to keep moving. The mage was quick on her feet despite her mud-caked boots, conjuring bolts of lightning that crackled through the air. The girl zigzagged through the dense swamp foliage, the electricity striking the ground with deafening thumps where she had just been standing. Each flash illuminated the shock and horror on her face, which was starkly contrasted by the eerie calmness in her eyes.

The mage pursued her, casting spells that transformed the very earth under the girl's feet into spikes and geysers of scalding water. The girl's newfound agility served her well, allowing her to leap and dodge with a grace that seemed almost inhuman. Her gown, once elegant, was now torn and stained with mud and swamp water, but she didn't dare slow down. The smell of ozone filled the air as the mage's magic grew more intense, the girl's breaths coming in sharp and quick.

A particularly nasty spell sent a shower of razor-sharp ice shards flying towards her. Instinctively, she raised her arms to shield herself, feeling the cold bite into her skin. The impact was surprisingly less painful than she had expected, almost a mere tickle compared to the agony she had felt when she first woke up as a zombie. The ice shattered against her body, leaving a trail of frost that melted almost immediately. She took this as a sign that she had become something more than just a mindless creature of the swamp.

Her dress, now in tatters, clung to her form, revealing the unblemished skin beneath the grime. The mage paused for a moment, her eyes narrowing as she studied the girl's movements. Her spells had been precise, yet this zombie was avoiding them with a grace that seemed to defy the very essence of the undead. The girl took advantage of the brief reprieve to sprint further into the swamp, her legs moving with an unnatural speed that seemed to belie her decaying form.
