The Price

“My soul?” Rin asked in shock.

“Not all of it my dear child. Just a small part of it. To take it all would leave you in no condition to court the one you seek.” Czarina corrected.

“But then why just a part?” Rin asked.

Czarina pointed to one of the colored gems on her necklace, because with just a part of your soul, I get the rest of it when you die. Each of my gems was specifically made to house the souls of nagas, humans, or anything else that sought my help and was willing to pay the price. These souls are the key to my immortality; with them I shall not die nor grow old. But at any rate, you can still back out of this deal and find another way to win the heart of the human.”
