The start of an adventure

The cave looked to be an uncovered hole where a large section of the mountain had crumbled, probably from the near destruction of the planet not to long ago. Something in Spyro urged him to examine it, that it was important somehow.

He turned to Cynders still sleeping form and gently nudged her awake. Yawning the black and red dragoness stretched as she awoke.

"Something the matter Spyro?" she asked sleepily

"That cave down there," he indicated the one he'd seen, "I think we should check it out."

Cynder looked at the gas dissipating from the entrance, "I don't know, that air might be poison. It looks a lot like my poison breath." Cynder demonstrated, breaking away from Spyro. The small cloud of her breath attack and the one below were similar, but not quite the same shade of green.

"Well, we won't know until we get down there," Spyro shrugged, "If it is poison, you can just use your wind power to blow it away."

Cynder wanted to argue for caution some more, but Spyro was eager to explore and had already leaped off the floating island. Sighing, Cynder followed as they swooped down to the cave entrance.

Up close, the entrance was bigger than they expected, easily large enough for two adult dragons to enter side by side, so to the two of them it was quite large. Thankfully the gas also seemed to have dissipated by the time they landed, leaving only a few wisps remaining as they too continued to vanish into the open air.

Cynder gave a tentative sniff, "It doesn't smell like poison," she mused, "It doesn't smell like anything I've encountered before."

"All the more reason to look into this." Spyro smiled and strode forwards. Once again Cynder wanted to protest buy could only sigh and follow him as they entered the cave.

Their powerful dragon eyesight took only moments to adjust to the dim light and once it had they were amazed by what they saw...
