Chapter #6

Help her find the pendant

    by: Bmao Author IconMail Icon
Ignitus the Chronicler gazed back at the book of his life and he snorted with amusement.

"Lets see, should I help a beautiful dragoness find her pendant or get to the square on time to be turned into Volteer's Guinea Pig," mused Ignitus in amusement. "Sorry Volteer, you're going to have to blow someone else up aren't you?"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------

By the Ancestors, how could he have even considered otherwise? Of course he was going to help her find her pendant! It was the right thing to do of course.

Thus, Ignitus found himself searching the ground on his belly, keeping his gaze focused for anything shiny. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a sparkle nearby the pile of wood that had been the mole's shop. He reached into the rubble and pulled it out. It was a beautiful bracelet, made of the purest platinum, dyed red to match the dragoness' color. In the center was a intricately carved gem. At first, he thought it was a ruby, but upon examining it with his claws he realized it was worth far more, perhaps more than his families belongings put together.

Yet Ignitus, being the chivalrous young dragon that he was, did not hesitatte for a moment to give it back to the young dragoness. Her eyes grew wide and she let out a gasp of relief as she snatched it from Ignitus and held it close to her face.

"My pendant!! Thank you so much!! It has a lot of sentimental value to me!!" she cried. "Um... if you don't mind could you help me put it back on?"

Ignitus' heart skipped a beat, "Sure!!" he cried. He hoped that he didn't look overeager, or that she didn't get the wrong idea as he made his way behind her and gently clipped the chain back around her neck. She purred with relief.

"Thank you so much!!" said the dragoness, relieved.

"Anytime," answered Ignitus.

"You know, I'm just curious, why were you in such a hurry anyhow?"

Ignitus' eyes grew wide. He had almost forgotten. He prepared to take off once more, but before he could do so, was stopped by her voice.

"I'm sorry, but I'm in a hurry. I'd agreed to help one of my friends with something in the square," said Ignitus. He really did feel sorry at having to end their conversation.

"Well, maybe I can come with you then..." she cried.

"Actually, I'm running really late..."

"Please wait!!" she insisted, more desperately and pleading this time. Ignitus stopped in his tracks.

"I...I'm not from around here, and I've been pretty lost so far, and... and you were really nice to me giving me back my pendant, so... I was wondering if you could show me around the city," said the dragoness.
