Kathrine is a junior at her high school and a little younger than her classmates average age. Her blonde hair is at the border between a true blonde and more of a brunette which could fairly be described as dirty blonde, but you will never catch her using that description of her hair color. Because, the year before, she had been crushing on this boy from the soccer team, really thought he was just the best, and managed to score a date with him. Thing is, the guy was a class 1 jerk, and convinced Kathrine to do some stuff on camera, which she did, thinking she could prove how much she was into him. But he wasn't even close to interested, and put the pics out on social, and with his number of followers, it was no time at all until Kathrine was now 'the dirty blonde' and the same of it almost lead her to hurt herself, and only a compassionate teacher catching her breakdown in the bathroom stopped that from happening. She got herself together, and actually got her revenge to some extent, since she was 15 at the time, and what that 18 year old did was technically child pornography. But, her reputation at school was done, so here it is, her junior year, and she is mostly a loaner, when by all outward appearances she looks like she could be part of any popular clique.
Her build is slim, lithe, because Kathrine had been a gymnast since 4th grade, and still competed, though she wasn't good enough for anything approaching the Olympic team. Her blue eyes with vivid enough that people thought she had cosmetic contacts, but no, that was in fact their natural color (her grandmother on her dad's side had same eyes). And while he figure is slim, she has a decent hourglass, definitely pretty and feminine, but more athletic than curvy. After the whole 'dirty blonde' thing, Kathrine is just as glad her looks don't attract more serious male attention, though a few of her classmates have expressed an interest. But the ones that have done so respect her enough to take it a face value when she says she isn't looking for that. Not because she doesn't want it, but because she doesn't want to face any renewed jokes about her past pics, and deep inside, she doesn't want to be hurt again like she was by him.
It's after school, and even practices and games are wrapped up, yet Kathrine is hanging out at the now empty stadium before she goes home. Home isn't a great place either, since he dad died overseas in the military, and her mom used Kathrine's incident at school last year as an excuse to be an outlet for all the anger and fear she has, finding it easier to blame her daughter than try to support her. It's definitely not abuse, but Kathrine doesn't feel at home at home, or at school, or anywhere really, other than when she can escape both locations and read her fantasy fiction novels. She's become something of a bibliophile, and reads almost anything about mythical realms, magical spells, and impossible worlds, all as an escape from the one she finds herself living in: but little does she know her own world is about to blur the lines between mundane reality and fantastical fiction.
Kathrine jumps down off the bleachers, headed back through the woods on a trail to her neighborhood, when she trips and falls off the trail into the brush, landing on a moss covered stone. Her impact scraps off some moss, and when her hand brushes the stone as she goes to get up, a powerful magic flows from it, into her, granting her deepest wish:
