Kayla noticed that she couldn't move anything on her body. When her head finally cleared up, she still had trouble seeing the dark. All she knew was that her body was wrapped in some kind of rope. "What is this?" she said aloud.
"Oh good, you are awake. I was beginning to worry dear."
Kayla yelped in surprise at the sudden voice. It sounded like a middle aged woman. She looked towards the direction it came from and could make out the outline of a person, also apparently tied up.
"Who are you?" Kayla asked in a frightened voice.
"My name is Pam, I'm a resident of Creepville," the voice answered back in a friendly tone. "I don't recognize your voice though. We all know each other in this little town. What is your name dear?"
Kayla believed this woman seemed genuine enough. "My name is Kayla. I'm was visiting town when I got attacked by this creepy fat boy who wanted to smell my feet, then I was lead into this forest by some other little boy, and now I've lost him and not sure where I am."
Pam seemed to understand. "You poor child. You shouldn't have come to this place. It is forever cursed."
"Cursed? What do you mean cursed?" the young teen asked curiously.
Pam sighed heavily, then started explaining. "Around this time of year, the males in this town develop these irrepressible desire for female feet. They go completely insane, and the only thing that helps is the smell, touch and taste of feet."
Kayla's ear's couldn't believe what they were hearing, but it made sense at the same time. "So that boy that attacked me..."
"Was cursed and interested in your feet because of that, yes," Pam finished. "It's especially dangerous for those who aren't residents of the town. They satisfy the cravings better than fellow residents of the town. The males hunt down these new feet and won't give up until they've all satisfied their hunger, or until the morning of the first day of November."
All of this confused and frightened Kayla, who had only wanted more candy tonight, not all this. "So how about you? How did you end up here?"
"It's a long story dear, but I don't think we are going anywhere anytime soon," Pam replied with a defeated tone. "I moved here with my husband and two children last year, right before Halloween. We had no clue, just that this town seemed lovely and our house was such a terrific price. How old are you dear?"
"I'm 18 ma'am," Kayla replied, glad that Pam couldn't see her blushing about her age.
"My daughter is 17, so she's about your age," the woman explained. "We also have a son that this 10, my husband and I have been happily married for almost 20 years now. This curse though, it's ruined our family."
With that, Pam started to cry. Kayla still couldn't make out her face, but I could tell she was upset. There was nothing I felt I could say, but I didn't have to, as she soon continued.
"Last year, the boys of the town attacked my daughter, just like that boy did to you. She didn't even go trick-or-treating, but she was fresh meat to them," Pam's voice started growing shaky. "They took her from the house when my husband and I were taking our son out. We called the police, but they are just as cursed as the rest, and don't reply on Halloween night. We went looking for her, but never found her."
She stopped again, letting out a long cry. Kayla felt terribly for her, having such a thing happen. The curiosity in me couldn't be repressed though. "What happened then?"
Pam briefly stopped crying. "She came back home the next morning. She was a complete mess though. The boys had been relentless on her feet. They had forced my daughter to wear her smelliest shoes and sniffed them for hours, tickled her when she didn't comply, licked her soles dry, sucked on her toes until even her polish was gone. Since then, she won't go barefoot."
Another brief pause came. Kayla kept her mouth shut this time though. "My daughter is very beautiful. She was becoming very popular with the other kids her age. She never had experience a foot fetish or thought much about her feet before," Pam continued. "They devastated her, and I couldn't do a thing about it."
"How about your husband and son?" Kayla asked. "Didn't you say this curse affects all males?"
Kayla saw her silhouette nod. "Yes, but it didn't affect them last year. I must take some time to sink in."
A knot in the young fairy's stomach formed when she said last year. Although I didn't want to know the answer, I asked the question anyway. "And this year..."
Pam sniffed, then started to cry again. "This year, they have lost it completely. My husband-"
But she didn't get to complete her sentence. Something started moving near us, and I finally noticed that we weren't on the ground, but somehow suspended in the air. "Oh god..the animals are here," Pam croaked out.
"Animals?! Why is that a bad thing?" Kayla said.
"The curse..." she said. "The curse."
"But shouldn't that only affect the people?" Kayla asked nervously.
"Look around you."
Then it hit Kayla. They were being in a giant spider web. Two creatures approached the two females. Two huge spiders were crawling there way up.
