While her clothes remained their normal size

If Marissa had read any shrinking fiction whatsoever she might have been prepared for what happened next. Because in the shrinking story, when the main character is shrunken, by whatever device, she is often shrunken right out of her clothes. One of two things then happens.

The first is that the shrunken woman somehow remains in the open while her clothes fall off her body in such a way that they never cover her. This allows the tiny women to be instantly disrobed without depriving her senses of the knowledge that her world has drastically changed.

The second is that, as the soon to be tiny woman comes out of her clothes, they end up burying her. So the tiny woman is left wondering where her clothes have gone while simultaneously wondering where the tarp that is covering her has appeared from. It is only when the tiny woman climbs out from underneath her now oversized clothes that the tiny woman answers those two questions as she comes to grip with her new reality.

Marissa was in the second situation. As she climbs out from underneath her clothes, she
