"I work for the university and was waiting for you to begin your training. You are a new intern in a research project we are doing. We were worried. Are you all right?"
"I think so."Tom said slowly, "But I don't remember anything about a job or the university and I don't even know your name."
"First things first, Caleb." The big guy smiled at Tom. "My name is Hal and you will be working with me on the research. You were really excited about it because you wanted to go for a Masters and this experience would look good on an application. Remember now?"
Tom couldn't remember anything about a job or even his name but somehow his mind began to accept what he was being told. Caleb began to feel like his name and he did want to work on a research project.
Mitch was pleased. Tom seemed to be accepting the new story about his identity just like they had hoped. Now to see how the other parts of the experiment were working. First, Tom had received a drug to block the inhibitions to eating. He should no longer recognize that he was full and keep eating. Second there was a drug to enhance his sense of smell and taste to make food more appealing. They needed their subject to be a willing eater and once that was established they would begin to test the rest of the experiment.
