Chapter #9

Meet the Counselors of Camp Charles

    by: chaos Author IconMail Icon
This was going to be too easy. That's what all of Camp Charles's counselors thought as they rode on the bus with the roughly half dozen kids they'd have to look after for the foreseeable future. Camp Charles was supposedly a camp for new experiences and learning how to become the best you can be. If that seemed vague, that was the point because no one knew exactly what the camp was really about. All the counselors knew was that they were contacted about a summer job at a camp in the middle of nowhere, and they agreed without a second thought. Now that they were on the bus heading to the location, they were justifying their reasons for coming here themselves.

"This is going to be a nice break from our missions, Ron. Just us, a few teens, and a couple of kids out in the woods. Admit it, we need a break from risking our necks," Kim Possible, teenage villain thwarter and cheerleader, told her sidekick Ron Stoppable as they sat together at the front of the bus.

"Okay, but if I see one monkey—just one—I'm gone!" Ron strongly maintained as he crossed his arms over his chest. He hated the idea of going to a summer camp after a traumatic experience in his childhood involving a summer camp and the monkey mascot, but for Kim, he'd push his concerns away. He knew a big reason that she wanted them to be counselors was that she wanted some alone time with him. They were best friends, best friends with benefits, and they offered those benefits to all their friends. So while Kim didn't mind that he slept with everyone from her rival Bonnie to her mom, his BFF wanted some personal time with him. Well, he and maybe a few other counselors.

"Sorry, I couldn't help but overhear what you two were saying. I don't think you'll have to worry about monkeys at the camp. A little dude friend of mine researched the area. Nothing out here but deer, bears, and a few lost dwarves," said a redhead sitting behind the pair as she leaned over. She was a curvy-looking young lady wearing a flannel shirt and lumberjack hat. "Oh, I'm Wendy, and I guess I'm going to be co-counseling with you two."

"Nice to meet you, Wendy," Kim said, grinning at her fellow redhead before glancing at Ron to give him a subtle look. He knew what that look meant. Kim was already imagining all three of them together. Keeping himself from blushing, Ron just smiled and hoped Kim wasn't getting ahead of herself. Not everyone was as adventurous as them.

"Hey, if we're doing introductions, I might as well introduce myself. I'm Danny Fenton. I'm here to be a counselor as well," a slim-looking teen in a baggy shirt said from across the aisle from Kim and Ron. Kim's eyes perked up at the name Fenton, remembering that there was a family of ghost hunters with that last name in the area. She wasn't sure if Danny was one of those Fentons, but she would find out later. Kim had fought a lot of weird things, but ghosts were not a foe she was familiar with. It never hurt to learn about an enemy she might run into in the future.

"The two girls on their phones are Enid and Jo. I tried to talk to them earlier, but they ignored me," Danny bashfully confessed. Enid was a tanned girl with purple hair in a pair of really tight shorts showing off her wide hips and long legs. Jo was also a black girl with purple hair, although her hair was much curlier. With a lanky body, she wore a striped shirt, ripped black pants, and a white visor on her head. When Danny had tried to talk to them, they hadn't been so much as unfriendly as distracted with their phones. That was okay. He'd try talking to them later when they got to camp.

"Hey! Can I ask you something!" A loud voice drew Kim, Ron, Wendy, and Danny's attention to the back of the bus, where one of their soon-to-be charges was standing with a big smile on his face. He walked up to them, the teens taking him in. He was a short, slightly round boy with a pink shirt with a star on it, jeans, and sandals. He stood confidently before everyone, taking them in as they took him in.

"I just wanted to know if it'll be okay for us to share our beds. I'm so used to having someone to sleep beside me that I don't think I could drift off if I was alone. Garnet told me it shouldn't be a problem because I'm so cute that everyone is going to want to fu…"

"STEVEN!"

Connie, Steven's best friend and much more, ran up to the boy before he could say anymore. Grabbing his arm while covering his mouth, she dragged him back while giving the counselor a very apologetic smile. "Sorry about that. This is Steven's first time going to camp, and he's got a lot of questions. I'll try to answer them all for him, so he doesn't bother you too much."

The older kids watched the two young friends back off, whispering something between them that the counselors couldn't hear. Kim chuckled and shook her head in slight amusement while Ron raised a brow at her response. Finally, she just replied as she sat back, "Those two remind me of both of us back when we were that age. You were always asking silly questions, and I was bailing you out."

"I wonder if they are getting it on like we were at that age," Ron whispered into Kim's ear so no one else could hear. Kim stopped laughing and gave Ron a dirty look for even suggesting that. After all, not all kids were as 'adventurous' as they were at that age.
