"Well, that is very important," you say, although a bit surprised by the suggestion. "But are you sure you want to begin with that?"
The boys look at each other, and then the one guy says, "Hey, we are the advanced class. We don't need any stupid swimming lessons. But if we want to be lifeguards, we need proper training."
You are a little shocked by the boys forecful argument. He does make a good point. Suddenly you are feeling more self-conscious in your bikini. How can you expect to be taken seriously? Still, you decide to make the best of it.
"Um, OK, ah let's start by having someone volunteer to be the drowning person."
The girls are standing with their arms folded, and appear to be uncooperative. However, both boys immediately shoot their arms up in the air.
You point to the boy who first started this suggestion. "What was your name again?"
"Timmy," the teenager grins.
"OK, Timmy how about you get in the water and start splashing around like you are in trouble," you tell the young man. "Maybe you have a cramp and cannot swim in the deep water."
Timmy takes a few steps toward the pool and then stops. "I have a better idea, Miss. How about you jump in the pool and pretend to be the drowning person. This way we can show you our technique. Then you can teach us what we are doing wrong."
